For so many years, Bill Conti had been woefully underrepresented on CD. Even the scores that made him famous – classics like The Right Stuff, The Karate Kid, North and South and Broadcast News – had failed to receive proper soundtrack releases. We've been thrilled to be able to correct this by releasing each of these scores, along with other favorites such as Gloria, F.I.S.T, Rookie of the Year and F/X.
It's time to take two more Conti scores off the disabled list with this double header CD of The Scout (1994) and Dreamer (1979).
In The Scout, a hilarious fantasy for baseball lovers, Albert Brooks stars as a desperate Yankee scout who'll do anything to sign a new prospect. Banished to Mexico to search for talent, he discovers the greatest young ball player (Brendan Fraser) he's ever seen. But once he gets him back home, he finds his new recruit has a few unexpected problems that just may jeopardize both their jobs. Conti's heroic score has become one of his most requested in this new age when the genuine grails have all been released.
Dreamer is an early but fun Bill Conti score for the obscure bowling film which starred Tim Matheson, Susan Blakely and Jack Warden. Conti's music is always inspiring – even for a bowling film! – and, thanks to the presence of Susan Blakely, we get a beautiful love theme as well!
