We are pleased to release the complete edition CD of the OST by Piero Piccioni for the drama "The Captive City" (aka La Città Prigioniera," "Conquered City").
SOUNDTRACK
Piero Piccioni, one of the colossal names of international film music, composed a symphonic OST where gloomy and tense passages frequently recur to perfectly describe the dramatic situation in Athens during the Second World War. The author alternates a melancholic love theme that timidly emerges to contrast with suspense music and exciting battle pieces, all enriched with Greek folk music.
Originally C.A.M. released a vinyl LP (Cms. 30 050) containing fifteen tracks in mono (TT 34:07) and an EP single (CA. 2464) with two tracks in mono. In 1991 the same material was re-released for the first time on CD in the series "C.A.M.'s Soundtrack Encyclopedia" (CSE 077) with audio filtered in dolby surround. For our CD (73:12 minutes) we were able to use a first generation master tape with the LP recording along with the mono master tapes from the original recording session so we discovered almost forty minutes of previously unreleased material, all specially restored.
