Dragon's Domain Records presents GERALD FRIED: DISASTERS!, featuring the world premiere release of music composed by Gerald Fried (THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., STAR TREK, ROOTS) for two films from his extensive filmography, DISASTER ON THE COASTLINER and CONDOMINIUM. The two movies featured in this collection were produced during the tail end of the Hollywood disaster movie craze, which was very popular in the 1970s and early 1980s. The trend pretty much ended with the release of AIRPLANE! in 1980, which immediately deflated the genre. Both films featured a star-studded cast of classic television stars.
Airing in 1979, DISASTER ON THE COASTLINER was a made-for-television action drama film directed by Richard C. Sarafian (VANISHING POINT). It starred Lloyd Bridges, Raymond Burr, Robert Fuller, Pat Hingle, E. G. Marshall, Yvette Mimieux, William Shatner and Paul L. Smith.
DISASTER ON THE COASTLINER follows disgruntled railroad employee Jim Waterman (Smith) as he attempts to cause a collision between two passenger trains. Waterman modifies the computer controlling the railroad signals, switches, and alarms between San Francisco and Los Angeles so that the two trains end up heading towards each other on the same track. Waterman seeks to force the railroad company to admit to their negligence in a previous accident that caused the deaths of his wife and children...
Airing in 1980, CONDOMINIUM was a two-part, four-hour made-for-television disaster film starring Barbara Eden, Dan Haggerty, and Steve Forrest. CONDOMINIUM featured an ensemble cast of well-known television actors including Ana Alicia, Richard Anderson, Ralph Bellamy, Larry Bishop, Macdonald Carey, Dane Clark, Linda Cristal, Elinor Donahue, Don Galloway, Pamela Hensley, Arte Johnson, Jack Jones, Dorothy Malone, Mimi Maynard, Lee Paul, Nehemiah Persoff, Nedra Volz, Carlene Watkins, and Stuart Whitman.

The music has been mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland and the liner notes have been written by G.B. Kenmer and Scott Davis.
