New Musical drawn from Dario Argento's Masterwork with the cooperation of Dario Argento in person. Simonetti's music emphasizes the Thriller, Horros, Splatter, Grand Guignol side of the show. A brief summary of an article about the musical. Vitali and Daverio had the idea of turning the 1975 cult film profondo rosso into a musical and convinced Dario to supervise the production. The show, directed by Stivaletti together with Fornasari, opens in Ferrara on October 7th with a spectacular scenic design and soon after it'll be performed in Milan and Rome. Stivaletti's bet is to keep on stage the victims even after their deaths with the help of special deforming mirrors so that the audience will be able to see the decomposing bodies still capable of interacting with the living. Besides the ballet, the major element in the musical is the chorus which, in an atmosphere that mixes grand guignol, Greek tragedy and surrealism, underlines the high points, murders included. As far as the plot is concerned, the adaptation is faithful to the film and it seems that the final decapitation will be particularly well performed. The score, keeps some of the film themes.
