Maria R. e gli angeli del Trastevere is a 1975 film directed by Elfriede Gaeng and starring Barbara Betti, Alessandro Haber, Giovanna Mainardi and Glauco Onorato. A drama in which a young widow, struggling with the difficulties of life, resorts to prostitution in order to provide a better future for her son. Amidst difficult moments of despair, a moment of relief may come when Maria meets a Venetian worker, Michele, who genuinely cares about her and her son.
A movie where the strings of sensitivity are often solicited could only be scored by the genius of musical emotion who bears the name of Maestro Stelvio Cipriani: Roman monument of film music, fine musician and a versatile artist like few others. On this occasion, his music illustrates the story with melodies sometimes velvety, with orchestrations sometimes wide, sometimes even evoking a waltz, samba, jazz and the piano music of Chopin.
