In collaboration with Gaumont and Quad Films, Music Box Records presents on CD the original soundtrack album of L'Affaire Marie-Claire (Women on Trial, 2026), composed, orchestrated and conducted by Philippe Rombi.
With L'Affaire Marie-Claire, the film by Lauriane Escaffre and Yvo Muller (Maria Into Life) that revisits the historic Bobigny trial led by lawyer Gisèle Halimi in 1972, Philippe Rombi delivers a score of great emotional intensity. True to his art of melody and orchestration, the composer unfolds a resolutely symphonic music, performed by an orchestra of forty musicians recorded at the Seine Musicale.
Far from merely accompanying the narrative, the music brings an additional dimension to the story. For the finale, Rombi composed a theme that gradually builds in a crescendo to a true orchestral climax. The directors describe the collaboration as magical: "Philippe Rombi rewrote certain scenes: his music brought a different perspective and added a new dimension to the subject." Their desire for a score that is both intimate and expansive, elevating the emotion, found a perfect echo in the composer's work.
