George and the Dragon is a European family adventure starring James Purefoy, Piper Perabo and Patrick Swayze that came out in 2004. It was a co-production between Germany's ApolloMedia and the Luxemburg-based Carousel Picture Company - and the composer who wrote the large orchestral score for the film is one of Luxemburg's best known musicians, Gast Waltzing. Those who are familiar with his music probably know him from the jazz scene, but the music he has written for George and the Dragon is a big symphonic score that will remind listeners of Howard Shore's The Lord of the Ring trilogy. Thematically rich, and performed with great stamina by the Luxemburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the choir A. Piacere & Les Amis du Chant, this score was the perfect choice for MovieScore Media's second entry in the 'Discovery Collection'. While Gast Waltzing has written music for over 150 theatrical films and TV films, he is most likely a new name to the international film music community and we are proud to present to you this composer and this great fantasy score which is filled with exciting action music, epic romantic themes and entertaining scherzos.
