Le jour du chien (France)
Un homme honnête (France) (DVD title)
VITE STROZZATE (aka STRANGLED LIVES) is a dramatic film directed in 1996 by Ricky Tognazzi and starring Vincent Lindon, Sabrina Ferilli, Luca Zingaretti, Lina Sastri, Ricky Memphis, Francesco Venditti, Giuppy Izzo, Vittorio Amandola, Joseph Manfridi, Guia Jelo, Karla Frank, Antonello Morroni, Violante Placido, Alessandro Partexano, Marilyn Pater. Francis (Lindon) is an entrepreneur reduced the brink of bankruptcy due to the speculation of her father in law, now dying, which led to the downfall of the family construction company. He hopes to heal the disarrayed finances of the company thanks to a contract for the construction of a school and recreation center on the outskirts. To bid at the public tender he needs funds, and as the banks refuse to lend funds, he accepts the advise of a bank director who introduces Claudio (Memphis), an individual working for Sergio (Zingaretti), an accountant, apparently normal, but actually friend and lover of the lady Sauro (Sastri), the widow of a Camorrist and its main lender. Ennio Morricone has composed an appropriate OST to the plot of the strangled lives by the money-lenders, true vultures in the urban jungle. The composer alternates atmospheres with dissonant strings, in an experimental way, to sequences, musically rhythmic, expression of all the criminal violence endured on their skin by the good people. Unfortunately, the master tapes with the original recording session have not been found, and this new recording on CD comes from the master disk with the mock-up recording prepared by the composer himself (the film contains more or less the same music of the CD, TT 40:39). Compared to the previous 1998 CD release, this new album has enhanced sound, restored and remastered.
