Pentamusic continues releasing Western scores with this tribute to the career of the great Lucio Fulci, the ultimate edition of the scores composed by the indomitable trio Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera for FOUR OF THE APOCALYPSE and SILVER SADDLE.
Released in 1975 and 1978, respectively, the former boasts such actors in the cast as Fabio Testi, Tomas Milian, Donald O'Brien and Michael J. Pollard. It's the story of a journey by four improbable companions amid the follies of a West full of religious extremism, cruelty and psychotic situations—a very grim and brutal movie that was even censored, its most violent scenes removed. The score is characterized by an array of wonderful songs in a '70s rock style, sometimes psychedelic, surely one of the most original works for one of the most unique movies in that genre.
SILVER SADDLE is a movie gifted with a more traditional plot starring Giuliamo Gemma as a loner cowboy, Roy Blood, who helps the young Thomas Barrett Jr. A Shakespearian twist will reveal a murder interlinking their pasts, since Thomas' father was the killer of Roy's. Nevertheless, the two will become friends.
Once again, the score is dominated by a vocal theme, "Silver Saddle," which gives the film its identity, establishing a relationship between music and images that is impossible to break.
This double-CD set is released in a jewel case and features liner notes by Maestro Fabio Frizzi.
