Yoko Sawai, piano
Patrick Healey, flutes
Guillaume Saucier, cello
This compilation focusing on the piano offers new versions of film music themes that have aged well and can deservedly be called classic. All of them were composed for the French cinema of the 1960's and the 70's, an extremely fruitful period in Georges Delerue's long career. The transcriptions by the three musicians stick faithfully to the melodic line of the original pieces, while retaining the most suitable material for flute and cello accompaniment. With its 24-page bilingual colour booklet, packed with many illustrations, this release is as much a treat to look at as to listen to.
