I am very happy that my friends from GDM Music and Legend are publishing on CD my soundtrack for the 1971 movie with a long and bizarre title "Le Inibizioni Del Dottor Gaudenzi, Vedovo, Col Complesso Della Buonanima" (The inhibition of Dr. Gaudenzi, a widower, with the complex of the lamented). A film successfully directed by my friend Giovanni Grimaldi, produced by Fulvio Lucisano and starring Carlo Giuffre, a great actor of stage and screen, who was one of the protagonists of the Italian comedy of the sixties and seventies. In 1970 Grimaldi directed another film of the same "pecoreccio" genre with the music of Riz Ortolani, produced by Lucisano: "La Prima Notte Del Dottor Danieli, Industriale Col Complesso Del... Giocattolo" (The first night of Dr. Danieli, an industrialist with the complex of... toy). Here the leading actor role was of Lando Buzzanca, another lion of the screen during those years. Grimaldi and Lucisano liked the music for "The inhibitions ..." and wanted me again for "Le Belve" (The beasts), an episodic film made in 1971, where Lando Buzzanca covered many roles. I, coming from the world of songs, made a soundtrack with a kind of pop flavor, but very romantic and for orchestra (directed with skill by my collaborator and forever friend Giacomo Dell'Orso). The main theme was performed by the Boys Choir of Renata Cortiglioni, and the sound has a bit of "Ray Connif flavor", as if to emphasize the childish attitude of the protagonist, to whom the lamented wife, on the point of death, made him sworn never to mate with other women, or the betrayal would have caused serious problems of impotence with the various beauties in the film, such as Francoise Prevost, Katia Kristina, Carla Romanelli. RCA released a promotional album that was meant only for TV and Radios of that time, but not for sale. So if it was very difficult to find it in those days, it's really quite impossible to find it now. Thanks to this new CD, which includes the stereo versions of the vinyl 33 laps and the complete mono tracks as they are in the film, music lovers can now enjoy this beautiful movie soundtrack I wrote and recorded with fun and enthusiasm forty years ago. Enjoy your listening...
