Marc 4 is a group composed by Antonello Vannucchi (hammond C3 and Keyboards, piano, Vibraphone), Carlo Pes (Guitars), Maurizio Majorana (Double bass and electric bass). Bruno Battisti D'Amario plays guitar is present just in some cues as a guest. The name of the group is composed by the first 4 letters of the founders, musicians belonging to the RAI orchestra. Two of them, Podio e Majorana had already played togheter before in the "Second Roman new Orleans Jazz Band", togheter with Lucio Dalla (with whom in 1962 they released a 45 rpm for Italian RCA with the tracks "Telstar/Madison: a swinging' time"). Vannucchi was a jazz man, he played in Lucca quartet togheter with Giovanni Tommaso and Vito Tommaso (in the meanwhile the group composed beat style songs for Ariston Record with the name "I 4 di Lucca"). Essentially born as a studio group, because of the great technical ability of the single musicians, MARC 4 began to collaborate with all of the most important soundtrack composers: Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Gianni Ferrio, Piero Piccioni, Piero Umiliani, Alessandro Alessandroni (just to name some of them), their collaboration was particularly prosperous with Maestro Armando Trovaioli. For some time they were even considered "Trovajoli soloists" and released some specific albums like "Ciao Rudy" for a jazz quartet. Subsequently the group started to produce his own material starting from a Beat genre, going through Bossa Nova and Jazz, and releasing some 33 rpm. They dedicated to Television songs. The 4 performers had a great carreer also singularly, Carlo Pes is also the author of some songs, the most famous is "Che Sarà" (lyrics by Franco Migliacci and Jimmy Fontana), a great success in San Remo festival when interpreted by José Feliciano (from the group "Ricchi e Poveri"). He also composed all of the cues in Mina's album "Amanti di Valore (lyrics by Franco Califano). Vannucchi accompained Nicola Arigliano in 2005 San Remo Festival. Music composed and performed by Marc 4 is still nowaday modern. Very important directors have included in their scores their tracks that can be found in these CDs, just to name few: productions such as "Sex in the city" or "Oceans twelve".
